World-renowned composer Augusta Read Thomas and New Music School have collaborated to establish a national competition for young artists in both contemporary and classical music. 

Advanced students compete, showcasing their abilities on standard repertoire and a new music piece composed especially for the New Music National Young Artist Competition each year. This competition provides a rare opportunity for young artists to premiere New Music from internationally acclaimed composers.
